Finished about a month ago. This one is acrylic, size 36 x 48. I think this is one of my most successful recent paintings. It was a painting that just flowed out of me, it was almost effortless. It was inspired by the music I was listening to at the time:
“Intoxicated Spirit” by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who was an amazing musician, he really sang from his heart.
This painting is also 36 x 48. It came out of a painting that I wasn’t able to resolve in a way that satisfied me. I painted over it, and this is the final result. It was inspired by my ongoing concern regarding environmental issues that continue to be ignored-where is the tipping point?
I have sketched plans for a new painting, something I almost never do. I’ve been stuck there for a while, this one will be a self-portrait. I will probably wait until next year, I won’t be working at George Mason University, I’m retiring(don’t like that word). That will give me some mental space to tackle a difficult painting.
